Well, it’s been quite a while coming with the 7 posts leading up to this. I feel like we’ve been on a journey together, but up until now, you haven’t really known where we were going.
I hope the box art gives you a little better idea now (click on it to get the fully glory).
Of course, just knowing the destination doesn’t mean were close to the end. There’s a lot more development to be done. More content and writing to fill out this beautiful and dangerous world.
Because this is a massive project. A game of tactical combat with well over 50 scenarios populating a story designed to immerse the players in a path of their own choosing. With more than 10 playable characters, 25 monster types and 10 bosses, this isn’t a world that will unfold by paying money for expansions. All you have to do is play it, and it will offer a persistent world that grows and expands as you explore.
A whole world of brutal and canny combat in a box. What more could you ask for?
Oh, you want to know when it will be available? Right, well, as I said, long journey and all that. The game will be ready for Kickstarter in Fall 2015 to make way for a release in Spring 2016.
If you’re looking for a taste now, though, you can sign up for my newsletter to get a front-row seat for the development and a first look at all sorts of new artwork as it comes in.

If you get through all that and still have questions, feel free to ask them in the comments.
Also I’d like to throw a big shout-out to Alexandr Elichev, who did the amazing box cover art, and Josh McDowell for the graphic design, which includes the kick-ass title logo. Box art and design didn’t come until much, much later in the process when developing Forge War, but I’m really happy to have it ready for Gloomhaven now. Just looking at it inspires me to keep working hard on the game.
